Yesterday I attended TechTarget’s ROI Summit in San Mateo, CA. It was packed with professional B2B marketers and the speakers and topics were excellent. TechTarget operates over 100 websites around the world on a variety of technology-specific topics with content contributed by over 150 editors and 700 experts. Millions of active technology buyers rely on TechTarget for quality information to help them through their buying journey.
Here are some key trends that Jon Brown, VP Market Intelligence at TechTarget, shared with the audience.
- Global IT budgets are up 6.7% for 2015, with the exception of EMEA which due to ongoing economic challenges is only growing at 3.6%
- Budgeted projects are shifting with a decline of 14% for on-premise solutions, an increase of 6% for cloud solutions (platform-as-a-service) and an increase of 13% for mobile. Jon estimates this will be a peak year for mobility projects.
- Top topics searched this year include server virtualization, mobile device management and bring your own device (BYOD) programs.
- Top trends are the Internet of Things (IoT), converged/hyper converged infrastructures and wearables (although that data came out prior to Google discontinuing its Google glass initiative). Private cloud, big data (which includes business intelligence) and software-defined everything, especially for storage and networking, are also big trends.
